Project Details

Climate responsive Architectural design is one of the main criteria in the design of the building. For this the facade design inspiration has been taken from our landscape and Grameen check pattern. This mesh like facade treatment acts as shading device to cut down heat. It helps in attaining thermal comfort inside the building. This mesh will also work as a bracing for the structure to counter the lateral load of earthquake. Local material bamboo and wooden louvers has been used on facade to control visual permeability where required. A linear central atrium inside the building acts like a street and connects different level of spaces vertically and horizontally which enhances social interaction with in the building and terminates in a water pool. This water body inspired by the traditional pond can play a vital role, as the wind flows through the water body it gets cooler. This central area is partially air conditioned and partially naturally ventilated with the concept of elevated air speed to make it thermally comfortable using less amount of energy, thus minimizing the cost of air conditioning. A LED screen has been designed in the atrium. This changeable screen will be showing events, achievements, activities of Grameen Bank.
