Project Details
The project was initiated at the request of Comilla Proshika after the devastating flood of 1988.The trail of destruction left by the deluge, needed formulating policies and plans for a physical environment that would minimize the loses of perennial floods. In 1989 Comilla Proshika and a group of young architects and planners decided to work together to develop a comprehensive rural development model, that would help distressed people to up grade their overall living conditions gradually. Architect Ahmad was the team leader, and coordinator in this project. The flood protection aspect was considered in conjunction with all other aspects of rural development.
